Apply electronically for a Tanzania visa at least two weeks before travel.

A visa is required to enter Tanzania. It costs US$50 for Japanese citizens. Apply online at least 2 weeks before you fly.

Have your passport and plane ticket (with the ticket number written on it) ready at hand, and enter the necessary information on the application screen. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months at the time of application.

Once your visa is issued, you will receive a notification to your registered e-mail address. Be sure to print a paper copy and carry it with your passport.

When you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport

Before you get off the plane, have a ballpoint pen ready at hand. When you enter the airport building, you will find a form to enter the country. Fill out the form, and then get in line at the immigration checkpoint. When it is your turn, say “Habari (Hello)” and present your passport, the visa printed on paper, and the entry form you have just written.
